COMPETITION DANCE IS SO EXTREMELY FUN FOR BOTH KIDS & PARENTS!
We specialize in personalized solos, duets & group dances.
We give each individual their BEST shot at performing well on stage and feeling good about themselves. We give individual attention and choreograph for the student rather than for ourselves. This sets us apart from most other competition studios in the area.
At TFDS we do not expect our team members to win, every time, any time, we expect them to do their very best performance for THEMSELVES!
BE WEARY OF STUDIOS WHOSE ONLY GOAL IS THE WIN! That is a red flag that they ONLY are doing this for their studio, rather than for the kids and their benefit.
A Dance Competition team brings so many benefits to your child, even if they only perform a solo. They learn the value of teamwork, respect for their own time and other’s time, hard work, practice, heart/soul/passion, and at the end of all of their hard work all season they get to perform on stage in a costume, with their whole dance family cheering them on and making core memories.
team expectations
All team members and their families are BOTH expected to sign a contract stating that they are committed to the team for the remainder of the season (SEPTEMBER- MAY), that they agree to follow all of the simple rules of the contract, show up to rehearsals, come to regular classes through the season, and when signing this that not only the parents but the children actually understand what they’re signing. This adds just another simple but huge life lesson via the art of dance, non related. We want the kids to be as involved in what their expectations are as their parents would be.
We are not like other studios, we do not hit new competitions every other week, we are not cut throat, we are not for everyone.
Good sportsmanship and work ethic are a must. Open minded team members are a must.
This will all be in the contract signed upon acceptance to the TFDS 24-25 Competition Team.
If your child is mentioning auditioning or being on the upcoming season’s team, here’s what to ask yourself:
Does my child regularly attend their dance classes?
Can my child work with their teacher without saying ‘no’ to said teacher?
If my child auditions, they will be placed in a dance and am I committed to making this happen for them as well? (paying on time, making sure my child is at class, rehearsal, and not having conflicts of interest during competition weekends).
Can my child and my personal family operate with the studio as a team and behave with sportsmanlike behavior?
Can we commit to whatever dance(s) my child is placed in, financially & time wise?
IF THE ANSWER TO THESE QUESTIONS IS ‘YES, I CAN MAKE THIS WORK FOR MY CHILD, OR MY FAMILY CAN MAKE THIS WORK FOR MY CHILD, OR YES! WE ARE SO EXCITED TO BE A PART OF THIS FAMILY ORIENTED TEAM AND JOURNEY AND TO MAKE THESE CORE MEMORIES’! THEN YOU ARE FIT TO AUDITION FOR THE TEAM!
IS YOUR CHILD INTERESTED IN TEAM?
